A Ride Through The Old World

This is a fully guided journey through the bones of Wales, across the Cambrian Mountains (supposedly the oldest in the world, whatever that actually means) and into Eryri (formerly Snowdonia), where the landscape shifts like the weather—desolate hills, misty lakes, winding coastlines, dense forests, and enough sheep to form their own government.

The route has a bit of everything. Mostly road (if you can call some of these Welsh "roads" actual roads), but expect a 60/40 split of tarmac and terrain that keeps things interesting. Single track, double track, sheep tracks, fireroads, fields, forests, the occasional bog that will have you questioning your life choices. And hills? Oh, there will be hills. Short, brutal, energy-draining climbs that make a pint at the end of the day taste even better.

It’s Wales in all its untamed glory.

What Makes It Great

Local Legends

Meet Tom & Kev, your two Welsh guides, part adventure junkies, part mechanics, and full-time experts in taking the scenic route. They’ll lead you through the best (and steepest) parts of Wales, crack jokes when your legs give out, and somehow always know where to find the next pint. If your bike breaks down, they’ve got you covered—just don’t expect sympathy if it was your fault.

The Road Less Traveled

Tourists flock to the same tired spots. You won’t. This route takes you through hidden valleys, misty backroads, and places that feel untouched by time. No tour buses, no crowds—just you, your bike, and Wales at its rawest.

Welsh Ales & Tales

A trip to Wales without a few late nights in a pub? Blasphemy. The places you’ll roll into aren’t just watering holes—they’re storytelling arenas, history lessons, and sometimes full-contact sports. Order a pint, settle in, and brace yourself for conversations that may or may not require translation.

Old World

Some places cling to the past—Wales is built on it. You’ll ride past ancient castles, cross centuries-old bridges, and share roads with more sheep than cars. The land here doesn’t just tell stories—it keeps secrets.By the time you leave, you’ll feel like part of the legend.

infrequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our events.
I normally ride with clip in shoes, can I bring these?

Yes but you'll need to bring your pedals along for the ride too

Should I bring my own saddle bags?

They all come with a small pouch with a multi-tool, tube, etc. However if you'd like to bring your own saddle bags our team will be able to set them up for you!

What if something on the bike breaks?

Unless the frame breaks, Tom can probably fix it 😊

What's the best way to book trains or transport in country?
What’s the difficulty rating?

Those sheep might look chill, but don’t be fooled—this ride isn’t a Sunday stroll. On an e-bike, most folks find it very doable, with only a few technical bits where you might hop off and push. On a regular bike, you’re signing up for a full-on workout: expect some technical terrain and lung-burning climbs. You should be a solid cyclist with decent off-road experience. Otherwise, opt for an e-bike and save yourself (and your legs) a little extra drama.

Does the route change at all?

Luckily, we have some great guides who can adapt based on skill level. For example, last year there were some stronger cyclists who opted for the long way round while others took the casual road.

What’s the refund policy?

We get it—life happens. Because these trips require advance bookings (lodging, gear, guides, etc.), we can’t offer full refunds at the drop of a hat. Here’s how cancellations work:

  • Deposit: Non-refundable. This helps us lock in logistics and keep costs down for everyone.
  • Cancel 180+ Days Before Departure: You’ll receive a credit (minus the deposit) toward a future Lost Travel trip or event.
  • Cancel Within 180 Days of Departure: Refunds aren’t guaranteed—if we can fill your spot, we’ll issue a refund (minus the deposit). Otherwise, no refund.

Pro Tip: We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance (we’ve had great experiences with World Nomads and Travel Guard). They typically cover trip cancellation for illness, injury, or other last-minute emergencies—so if you break a leg or get sick, you can file a claim and get reimbursed.
